“Look up, get up, and don’t ever give up.”
Ellie, Colleen, & the Littles, having a little fun by the Cowboys’ goalpost.
If you're looking for your next family adventure, set your sights on Dallas, Texas, a city where the wide-open sky meets bountiful hospitality and where kid-friendly fun is around every corner. Whether you’ve got energetic toddlers, curious school-aged kids, or teens who think they’ve seen it all, Dallas offers a surprising mix of experiences that will spark wonder in every member of your crew.
For us, visiting Dallas was part nostalgic, part brand new. Kevin has always been a die-hard Cowboys fan. He even lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area during the team’s glory days in the '90s. (Yes, we miss those days, too.) So when we made a quick trip back to Dallas as a family, we knew we had to swing by AT&T Stadium and some of Kevin's old favorites—but we also wanted to create fresh memories together, discovering just how much Dallas has to offer for families.

From the wild wonders of the Dallas Zoo and the underwater magic of the Dallas World Aquarium to the urban green oasis of Klyde Warren Park (think food trucks, splash pads, and live entertainment), this guide is packed with the best family-friendly activities in Dallas.
Whether you're after hands-on learning, adventure in the great outdoors, or just a relaxing afternoon under the Texas sun, we’ve got you covered with the best things to do as a family so you can spend less time planning and more time making memories.

Iconic Family Attractions in Dallas
Looking for the kind of places your kids will be talking about long after you’ve left Dallas? These iconic attractions are crowd-pleasers for a reason: wild animals, hands-on science, and even art that will keep your kids engaged.
Dallas Zoo
If you have young kids, the Dallas Zoo is a great way to spend a day. Families can learn more about animals at Keeper Chats throughout the day. From the gorillas, crocodiles, and cheetahs at the Wilds of Africa to lions, giraffes, and elephants in the Giants of the Savannah, and tamarins, otters, and sloths at Zoo North, as well as domestic animals at the Children's Zoo section, there's much to see and experience.
The wildlife sanctuary is open every day except Christmas, but hours vary by season. Children under two are admitted free. If you live nearby, we recommend investing in a membership, which will save you money on parking and comes with other perks. With Dallas CityPASS, you can save up to 50% on tickets (but you'll need to purchase them in person as the discount can't be applied online).
Throughout the summer months (and into September), the zoo hosts Safari Nights. Families can spend the whole day at the zoo and then stay late to enjoy live entertainment, participate in family-friendly activities, and experience up-close animal encounters.
Dallas World Aquarium
This family-friendly destination combines marine life, exotic birds, and interactive exhibits for a rich educational experience. Adult admission costs approximately $32, while children aged 3–12 are $22. Children two and under are admitted free, and discounts are available for seniors and military personnel.
This place is more than your average aquarium! In addition to typical aquarium animals, you'll also find creatures like ocelots, sloths, flamingos, several species of reptiles and amphibians, a rich selection of bird species, and even a tree kangaroo!

Admission to the museum is on a timed-entry basis. If you're using CityPASS, you can still purchase your tickets and reserve your times online.
The Moody Family Children's Museum is an exciting new addition and is included with your general admission ticket. It provides immersive STEM learning opportunities that will keep kids engaged in exploration and discovery.
Dallas Museum of Art
While general admission for the DMA is FREE, visitors must reserve their entry tickets, along with any paid special exhibition tickets, online in advance. The DMA boasts a collection of over 25,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years of history. They even have a full calendar of events for family programs throughout the year.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center
This super-fun indoor playground features rides, games, a mini-land display, and numerous Lego-building opportunities. Our girls spent several hours climbing, playing, and building. The coffee shop (which had some surprisingly delicious options) was a great place to relax and refuel. We enjoyed the mini-land with incredible Lego replicas, including DFW Airport, AT&T Stadium, and the Stockyards in Fort Worth.

AT&T Stadium Tour in Arlington, Texas
AT&T Stadium in Arlington is a must-see for sports fans visiting the Dallas area, especially if you’re a Dallas Cowboys supporter. Kevin’s love for the Dallas Cowboys has rubbed off on the whole family, particularly Ellie.
We weren’t originally planning to take the tour, but once we arrived, we decided it was worth the extra time and cost. With a discounted ticket, the tour provided us with special access to the locker rooms, the field, and the stands, an unforgettable experience for both adults and children.
